EMERGENCY

In an emergency, always call triple zero (000). It’s a free call from any phone, mobile or phone box.

For other urgent medical issues, go to an Emergency Department.

Our Emergency Departments are open 24 hours a day, seven days a week:

If you need mental health care, please phone the Mental Health Line on 1800 011 511 or go to your nearest hospital Emergency Department. If it’s an emergency, please phone triple zero (000) immediately.

The Mental Health Line is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and will connect you with the right care for your individual situation, no matter where you live in NSW. It is not a telephone counselling service.

In Northern NSW Local Health District, we have a range of adult, adolescent, and child mental health services. Depending on your individual needs, you may be admitted to one of our five mental health inpatient units, or you may receive support and assistance through our community-based services. Our mental health staff will work with you and your family or carers to determine the right type of care for you.

Find out more on our Mental Health Services page.

Inpatient Unit

The Tuckeroo Adult Sub-Acute Inpatient Unit is a 20-bed unit for people needing a lower level of support than provided at our acute inpatient units in Tweed and Lismore.

Tuckeroo is a short-stay residential ‘recovery support’ unit aimed at providing a ‘step up/step down’ facility where patients are assessed and treated for mild to moderate mental health conditions. Our unit aims to support independence and improve quality of life, with care based on a recovery model.

Visiting Hours: 1pm to 6pm, Monday to Friday; 10am to 6pm, weekends and Public Holidays.
