EMERGENCY

In an emergency, always call triple zero (000) for an ambulance. Ambulances are the safest way to be assessed, treated and transported to the right hospital for the care you need.

Triple zero (000) is a free call from any phone, mobile or phone box.

For less severe but still urgent situations, go to an Emergency Department.

There are 12 public hospital Emergency Departments in Northern NSW Local Health District and they are all available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

New schedule for COVID-19 Vaccination Clinics
Published: 23 May 2022

From Monday 30 May, the NSW Health clinics providing COVID-19 vaccines in Northern NSW will move to a new schedule as part of the next phase in the state-wide vaccination program.

Clinics will remain at fixed locations on set days in Tweed, Lismore and Grafton, while a new mobile schedule will see the local vaccination team visit towns throughout Northern NSW over the coming months.

From Monday, the opening days and locations of the three permanent clinics will be as below, noting the new locations for Tweed and Grafton:

  • Lismore: Southern Cross University, L Block, Military Road, Lismore. Open Mondays 8.00am – 4.00pm
  •  Grafton: 120 North Street, Grafton. Open Wednesdays 8.30am – 3.30pm
  •  Tweed: Tweed Heads Community Health, Florence Street entrance, Tweed Heads.  Open Fridays 8.30am – 3.30pm

Pfizer, Pfizer kids, Moderna and Novavax COVID-19 vaccines will be available at each site. Bookings are available, and walk-ins are also welcome.

Chief Executive, Northern NSW Local Health District, Wayne Jones, said the change in schedule was well-timed to suit the current phase in vaccination delivery.

“COVID-19 vaccinations are now readily available through many GPs and pharmacists, and we are seeing a decrease in demand through our clinics,” Mr Jones said.

“By adapting our schedule, we’re able to return some of our health staff back to their important roles in hospitals and health services, in readiness for the traditionally busy winter season.

“I am incredibly proud of the significant contribution our staff have made to the COVID-19 vaccination program, and I thank them for their expertise, initiative, dedication as we’ve delivered this important public health measure to our community.”

A mobile service will provide vaccinations as part of a rotating schedule around the region, targeting vulnerable or harder to reach communities with lower vaccination rates.

The upcoming dates and locations of the mobile schedule will be available on the Northern NSW Local Health District website: /covid19/covid-19-vaccinations

“We continue to encourage the public to keep coming forward for their vaccinations to protect themselves, their loved ones and the community against COVID-19,” Mr Jones said.

If you’re aged 16 years or over, get your booster dose three months after you received your second dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, or three months after COVID-19 infection if you've had the virus since your second dose.

Across NSW, more than 3,500 vaccine providers, including GPs and pharmacists, will continue to provide the majority of COVID-19 vaccinations to the broader community across NSW.
