EMERGENCY

In an emergency, always call triple zero (000) for an ambulance. Ambulances are the safest way to be assessed, treated and transported to the right hospital for the care you need.

Triple zero (000) is a free call from any phone, mobile or phone box.

For less severe but still urgent situations, go to an Emergency Department.

There are 12 public hospital Emergency Departments in Northern NSW Local Health District and they are all available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Nurse Monica Hogan

Specialist breast care Nurse Monica Hogan has retired, after dedicating over 52 years to the NSW Health, 31 of those years with NNSWLHD.

Following her training at St Vincent’s Hospital in Darlinghurst in 1972, Monica’s led an interesting and wide-ranging career including working in maternity and child health in New Guinea and community health in Southern Sydney.

Monica performed a vital service for rural and remote patients in Western Australia working as a flight sister for the Royal Flying Doctor Service.

She moved to Northern Rivers in 1986, raising her family and working in the palliative care ward in St Vincent’s Hospital, Lismore. 
In 1992 Monica joined NNSWLHD Community Health, eventually specialising in wound management and immunisation clinics. 

For the past 14 years she’s been an integral member of the multidisciplinary team caring for people with breast cancer as our specialist breast care nurse.

We wish Monica every happiness in her retirement!
