Parents and carers looking for something fun and healthy to do during the upcoming school holidays can now enrol their primary school-aged children into the free Go4Fun program.
The online healthy lifestyle program runs for 10-weeks and has recently been updated to better meet a family’s needs.
The program includes 10 online sessions which families can complete together, a weekly phone call with a qualified and dedicated health coach and activities to do in real life as a family. Families can also connect with other families online.
The online content is interactive, mobile friendly and children can earn tokens to receive a reward at the end of the program.
Northern NSW Local Health District Director of Aboriginal Health, Oral Health and Health Promotion Kirsty Glanville said the holidays provided a perfect opportunity for families to spend time together and focus on their health goals in a fun and engaging way.
“Families can now do the online program at their own pace, and set their own health goals, in partnership with their very own health coach,” Ms Glanville said.
“Small changes can make a big difference, and we want to encourage families to give it a go.
“Families can enrol in Go4Fun Online at any time and complete the free program in a way that best suits them.”
Go4Fun Online supports families to learn practical skills to make healthier food choices by understanding food groups and portion sizes, how to read food nutrition labels, increase mindfulness, improve sleep and move more in the day.
The program also supports families from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds through culturally adapted resources and a bi-lingual Arabic speaking health coach. Interpreter services are also available.
