In healthcare, new treatments, technologies and patient needs are constantly emerging.
That’s why nurse practitioners from across Northern NSW came together on 25 March for their first education event, hosted by the District’s Nurse Practitioner Group.
Invited to the event were nurse practitioner students, external nurse practitioners and clinical nurse consultants, who learned from other health practitioners, including radiologists, pharmacists and consultants.
District Nurse Practitioner Coordinator Bec Collins said ongoing learning was essential to help nurse practitioners meet the evolving needs of patients.
“Nurse practitioners are highly skilled registered nurses – we play a vital role in patient care, from diagnosing and treating illnesses to prescribing medications and managing complex conditions,” Bec said.
"Healthcare is constantly evolving and so are the needs of our patients. We need to stay on top of best practices.
“Learning from each other and other practitioners improves the care we provide. It’s all about collaborating and continuous learning.”
The event featured hands-on foundational skills stations, where participants built their practical skills and knowledge in abdomen, neurological and chest examinations.
The event was made possible thanks to the support of Director District Nursing and Midwifery Katherine Duffy and the Australian College of Nurse Practitioners.
