Occupational Therapy – Child
Occupational therapists help people participate in work, school and fun activities, personal care or household tasks and roles that are important to them. We refer to these as “occupations”.
We look at how your health condition limits your ability to perform independently and safely in meaningful occupations. We then provide training, therapy, equipment and home modifications to help you maximise participation and performance in occupations you like or need to participate in that are appropriate to your stage in life.
Occupational Therapists also work closely with other health professionals, your family or carers to help you achieve your health and lifestyle goals. Services are provided in hospital, community health centres and your home.
Occupational therapy services for children aged under 18 are provided as either part of ‘KidScreen’ through our Child and Family Therapy Team or one on one. You can find out more about the Child and Family Therapy team.
KidScreen runs weekly at Tweed Heads Community Health and on the fourth Wednesday of the month at Pottsville HealthOne.
You can contact the service directly, but usually we will need a referral from your doctor or other health professional once treatment starts.
